How the load gets carried after the wall is gone
A load-bearing wall carries weight from above — ceiling joists, a second floor, or the roof — down to the foundation. Removing it means installing a beam (lumber, LVL, or steel depending on the span) sized by an engineer, supported by posts at each end that transfer the load to footings below. During the work, temporary shoring carries the structure while the wall comes out and the beam goes in.
